Stem Cell Company Stocks 7/26/09

As expected, the market has exploded higher thanks to improved earnings from a large percentage of reporting companies. Even the stem cell stocks are being pushed up. The larger cap stocks in the sector seem to be performing the strongest. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues.

- Cryo-Cell International (CCEL.OB) = Up 25%; After a slight retracement from positive earnings report, this stock has resumed it's upward climb.

Worst Stem Cell Stock Performer(s) the Last Two Weeks:

-MultiCell Technologies Inc. (MCET.OB) = Down -31%; There has been no news from the company. The stock is acting like a typical penny stock. It's heading back down to it's 52 week low. I would even consider this one until it gets there.

Stem Cell Stocks 7/12/09: The Past Two Weeks

The overall market is continuing its slide. Most people are waiting to see how it responds at key technical points of 850 on the S&P and 8000 on the DOW. Meanwhile, i've been interested to see how the stem cell stocks perform. It was one of the few sectors that performed well when market initially tanked at the end of 2008. However, overall there hasn't been a repeat performance.

- BioTime Inc. (BTIM.OB) = Up 37%; A stem cell marketing agreement was announce by Biotime with Millipore. The price rose on 5 times the average daily volume. This stock has a history of spiking then falling quickly. I wouldn't recommend chasing.

Worst Stem Cell Stock Performer(s) the Last Two Weeks:

-Advanced Cell Technology (ACTC.OB) = Down -36%; After a huge move 2 weeks ago, ACTC.OB was unable to break out of that 25-30 cents range. Once it failed, it made for a great short opportunity. It's hard to say when the freefall will end.
